INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE

Communication is the fundamental aspect of any learning process. Language differences become a barrier, disrupting this process. Linguistic tools like dictionaries, glossaries and lexicons in tribal languages, create an opportunity to establish this dialogue. These texts can be used by students as well as teachers, to facilitate learning process. Mission My Boli, aims to research and publish such dictionaries, comprising of words in tribal language and their equivalent in English, Marathi and Hindi, beneficial for school children between the ages of 3 to 12. ANTHROPOLOGY

Linguistic anthropology proves to be an effective medium to discover tribal knowledge. Lok Bhasha Sanshodhan Abhiyan, aims to explore the culture, literature, apart from linguistic perspective, pure anthropological study is necessary to document and preserve aspects of tribal communities, for instance, their cuisine, spirituality, dwellings, adornments, social dynamics, etc. Get a Glimpse

PSYCHOLOGY

Psychological testing: Psychological research of tribal communities helps to uncover the potential within them, in terms of aptitude, intelligence, etc. Psychometric tests are used to measure such attributes. However, these tools have not been adapted for tribal communities, nor have they been standardized for them. RISE envisions adaptation of psychometrics tests for tribal population.

Mental health- RISE aims to address the prevalence of mental health issues and disorders in tribal population.
Career guidance- Tribal students have a very limited guidance and exposure to information of career opportunities. With the help of
psychometric tests and domain experts, RISE provides career guidance to tribal students.
Counselling and Psychotherapy- These are parts for therapeutic intervention, which intend to assist an individual to deal with psychological, emotional and behavioural problems.

ARCHAEOLOGY

Tribal archaeology studies material culture, settlements and historical practices of tribal communities by examining artifacts, structures and landscapes associated with their heritage. RISE strives to conserve and interpret these factors, considering them to be the building blocks of historical narrative. The research in this area throws light on, water management practices, trade networks, etc.

Human societies get defined by values, ideas of morality, purity, spirituality and a set of rules. Human interaction is shaped through the prism of this complex framework. The societal aspects which RISE focuses include rituals, ceremonies, festivals, institutions of family, marriage, indigenous community judiciary system, community governance, darshan shastra (philosophy), etc. It also includes understanding the prejudices and beliefs held by urban dwellers about tribes and vice versa. The exploration is not limited to current evidence but proceeds to find the rationale on which these societal events stand.

Tribal communities are not apart from nature, but they are a part of it! Their lives are deeply intertwined with nature. The natural farming practices, plant-based medicinal remedies, dietary practices, and knowledge of nature and forest passed down across generations, echoes sustainability. These indigenous life sciences are part of tribal lifestyle and not a fad or trend. RISE documents this time-tested wisdom to utilize it for addressing modern problems.

This effort is an attempt to promote teaching and learning of indigenous recipes. Elders in the community will teach traditional recipes to young generation and these recipes will be documented for the purpose of research as well as for promoting them in future through our initiative ‘fair of rare. ‘
